Vascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. In 2021, they were responsible for 29% of deaths in all countries, according to the World Health Organization. They comprise a wide variety of problems in arteries, veins, and lymphatic vessels.

What are the most common vascular diseases and everything about serious medical emergency?

Vascular diseases affect your body’s blood vessels. When blood vessels are not working properly, cells cannot get all the oxygen and nutrition they need to stay healthy. As a result, it damages your veins, arteries, and glands. It is a complex medical condition. It may grow anywhere in the body. The most common vascular diseases involve the venous system.

Cerebrovascular accident

It is when a blood clot or a ruptured blood vessel interrupts blood flow to the brain.

Peripheral arterial disease

It is when the arteries that supply blood to the limbs and pelvis become narrow or blocked, causing symptoms of pain, and loss of function.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm

The aorta is our primary artery. It starts from the heart, goes through the chest, and downs to the abdomen. There it takes two routes – each one to the legs. They carry blood to the legs. Over time, the abdominal aortic aneurysm in your aorta can become weak and the normal force of blood pressure can cause it to rupture.

Pulmonary embolism

When a blood clot that has formed in the leg veins travels through the heart into the arteries of the lung, it may cause death or chronic shortness of breath due to elevated pulmonary blood pressures.

Chronic venous insufficiency

If you feel severe pain and swelling in the legs, the situation may indicate that you have chronic varicose veins. When the blood cannot travel through the veins due to weak valves, they interrupt the oxygen blood supply.
